You snore when air doesn't move as freely as it should through your nose and mouth while you're sleeping. Parts of your mouth and throat, including your tongue, uvula, tonsils and so on, vibrate as you breathe, creating the unique sound that we call snoring. There are many possible causes for snoring. Allergies can make your nose stuffy and cause you to snore. Cold and infection can cause snoring by blocking your nasal passages or making your tonsils swell.

Why is the word ‘ambulance’ inverted on ambulance vans?

    Harinnitha , Tirupur

The word ‘ambulance’ is written in an inverted manner on the front portion of the ambulance so that, when seen in the rear-view mirror by a vehicle in front, the image of the word would get inverted. This helps the driver read the word properly so that he/she can provide way for the ambulance.

Why are sports players accompanied by children when they walk into the field?

    Haridarshan N , Hassan

This is usually something that is seen in football games. There are various reasons why children act as mascots, accompanying players on to the field. It could be to promote children rights campaigns, to bring an element of innocence to the game, or as a gesture of fulfilling the dreams of kids. Some clubs or teams may even make money by charging families to have their children appear as mascots. Having children accompany players also allows teams to portray themselves as good role models. Why do boomerangs come back when we throw them?

    Tanvi , Hyderabad

Did you know that not all boomerangs are designed to come back? Boomerangs were first used as weapons to hunt animals. They were meant to hit the target, not fly through the air and return to the thrower. Returning boomerangs were developed later, for leisure and sport. They have a special curved shape and two or more wings that will spin, creating unbalanced aerodynamic forces. These forces cause the boomerang's path to curve in an elliptical shape, making it return to the thrower when thrown correctly.
